Every marriage develops patterns—some that create connection and others that leave couples feeling misunderstood, frustrated, distant, or stuck in the same conflicts again and again. Pastoral couples counseling provides a supportive space to slow those patterns down, understand what is happening beneath them, and learn healthier ways of communicating and responding to one another.

Together, we may work on communication, conflict, emotional connection, intimacy, parenting, boundaries, trust, family-of-origin patterns, temperament differences, and navigating difficult seasons of marriage. Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, we focus on understanding the relationship itself and helping each spouse learn how to love the other more effectively.

Our work integrates practical, research-informed relationship tools with a Biblical understanding of marriage and the human person. The goal is not a conflict-free marriage, but a marriage in which both spouses can communicate honestly, repair after conflict, grow in virtue, and experience greater safety, friendship, connection, and unity.

Begin by Understanding Your Marriage—and Each Other

Your first session includes both a detailed Temperament Assessment and the Gottman Relationship Checkup.

Your individual temperament assessments help uncover the needs, motivations, strengths, and vulnerabilities each of you brings into the marriage. Often, behaviors that have been interpreted as selfishness, rejection, criticism, or lack of caring begin to look very different when couples understand what is happening underneath them.

Your marriage assessment gives us an additional picture of the health of your relationship, highlighting areas of strength as well as places that may need attention.

Together, these tools give us a starting point for understanding not just what is happening in your marriage, but why—so that our work can be tailored specifically to the two of you.
